President of the Board, Founder, CEO
“Little did I know twenty years ago, that Friends Together would become such an important part of my daily life. It has touched me and so many people – my family, those who are part of our caring board and community, as well as those touched by cancer as they travel their road to wellness.”
“I have my daughter, Dawn, to thank…for without her journey and the promise she asked me to make, the programs of wellness and support may not have materialized. I have never lost hope…I look for the joy this experience brings. Some dreams really do come true.”
Resource Development Coordinator
I began my employment with Friends Together in December of 2015 as the
Fundraising Coordinator for the Five 4 Friends Campaign. I work closely
with the Co-Chairs of the campaign as well as the staff here at Friends
Together. I am amazed at the caring and supportive communities we serve
and am so grateful for all the willingness to support our campaign.
Without the “teams” hosting events, the business sponsors, and the
ongoing donations, none of what we do would be possible. I am so proud
that together we make a difference in the lives of those struggling with
cancer. My hope is that the Five 4 Friends Campaign will make it
possible to offer support to our friends with cancer…. for many years to
I started out with Friends Together as a volunteer, then an independent contractor, then a part-time staff member. Today I work full time helping our Board and volunteers fulfill our mission of being the difference in the lives of friends during and after their cancer experience. I understand the experience from the point of view of a family member. Two sisters are breast cancer survivors. My wife lost both her father and her brother to cancer. I am most happy when we can make a real difference for someone here in northeast Michigan. ..when we see a new friend recognize for the first time that he or she is not all alone in their struggle. Thank you to all the good people of our community…and beyond…who make Friends Together possible by their donations, their volunteer work, and their care for each other.
Program Coordinator, Patient Navigator
I was an active member of the Friends Together Board of Directors for a few years prior to being offered the opportunity to become part of the staff. I bring with me a personal cancer history and a strong desire to help those along their cancer journey. My goal to help others navigate the ever complex healthcare system was a driving force behind earning my Patient Navigation/Oncology certificate. It is now my privilege to assist the Board and be a part of the Friends Together team as we fulfill the mission of Friends Together.
